Once you've changed your beliefs to make it easy to lose weight, get fit, change jobs etc. It's then time to set about designing your life around what you want.
What you really want!
The biggest reason that people fail is because they fail to plan. We all need direction in life and for that reason it is important to get focused.
I suggest going somewhere quiet, locking the door and settling down with a pen and pad, this will allow you to brainstorm without interruption.
Identify what it is that you really want to achieve, maybe it is weight loss, if that is the case it is important to ensure that you are specific with your goals.
Simply writing down 'to lose weight' will not work becuase subconsciously as soon as you lose 1 or 2lbs you have completed your goal and sabotage your real goal.
If you want to lose 14lbs then write that down, then put a time frame on it.
Goals need to be timed, your subconscious will know when you are able to achieve this by, let it guide you.
Now you have your goal and a time frame you need to work break it down into more manageable chunks (many small steps are much easier to achieve than huge ones) you are also less likely to become bored when you see yourself achieving these smaller steps.
Who or what do you need to help you achieve your goal, are these resources you already have or do you need to find them?
Perhaps you need to join a gym, hire a personal trainer, seek the advice of a dietician.
This may seem like a lot of work but believe me planning leads to success.
So, let's review:
You have a Goal and it's specific
You've set a time frame
You have chunked it down into smaller more manageable steps
You have examined the resources you need to support you.
What else is needed?
Remember in the previous post we looked at the benefits of achieving or changing a behaviour, you do then lets do the same here.
Why do you want to lose weight?
What will it change for you?
What will happen if you don't lose weight?
How will life be in 10 years if you continue on you current path?
Remember we do things for one of two reasons:
To Gain Pleasure or Avoid Pain.
We need to make sure the pain is more than we can accept and that the pleasure is something we can become really passionate and inspired by.
Get this right along with the previous steps and you will achieve your goal.
The last ingredient is accountability and more importantly public accountability.
What do I mean by this, we achieve much better results when we become acountable for our actions, by setting a goal you have made yourself accountable to you.
Now lets make you accountable to other people, friends, work colleagues, partners or if you are really determined post a video diary on You Tube for example.
For a good example of someone who has experienced massive results in this way check out Adam Waters who at the age of 33 and after 6 years of failed diets got himself into the best shape of his life.
